3 rounds with Jack Webb is the Valentine's Day Challenge

11 HIMs or maybe it’s HIDAs came together in sub-freezing temps (24 degrees F). The beauty of the cold brisk morning was no ice. 0530 hrs struck and it was time to get these men warmed up after our pledge to Old Glory. Runners do two laps around the pickle and walkers do one meeting at the top of the parking lot circle for some warm-up. Once those muscles are warm, QIC explained the thangs. [Read More]

School's out for winter

If you’ve lived in this area for more than 5 years, you know the story. If it snows on Day 1… expect Day 5 to still be a snow day. And so it was in Wake County this weekend. It snowed (barely) Thursday night so Friday was naturally a snow day. Then came a solid dumping Friday night followed by two days of beautiful, snowy and generally above freezing temps on Saturday and Sunday. [Read More]

Just an Ordinary morning in the gloom

I won’t wax poetic as I am submitting this BB 3 weeks after the workout. Why? Because backblasts are important from a historical perspective. That being said … lets go! It's All in the Numbers

Today I celebrate 56 trips around the sun. I was thinking about how some numbers have corresponded to important times in my life. For example, I was born in ‘65 and today I am 56; my high school jersey number was 39, and I moved to Raleigh in ‘93; I graduated from college in ‘89 and my daughters were born in ‘98; I was married in ‘96 and …. well, all the numbers don’t work. 7th Callahanniversary

Seven years is a significant amount of time regardless of how many years you’ve racked up to this point in your life. For me, it represents over 20% of my existence on this earth. I spent some time the last few days considering how much I have changed in that span of time. A 27-year-old, working as an inside sales rep at a failing wood mill is were it started. Sam, the salesman. [Read More]

So I know some of you are woodworkers...

My 3 years of f3 celebration continue as I Q at the place I posted for the 2nd time, and my favorite Carpex AO, Bradfords Ordinary. 3 years now...

So 3 years ago I showed up to Rush Hour, it was stupid hot, I had no gloves, but a man who I would later learn was named “Old Maid” walked to the parking lot welcomed me, and led me over to the gathering point to introduced me to the rest of the men gathered. We waiting for the “Q” named “Riptide” who arrived right on time grabbed a small kid’s tricycle and said follow me. [Read More]

It adds up

EC Showed up a bit before 5:30 thinking that FOD was an early start time. Then remembered that FOD is old school. 5:45AM Start old school. Luckily Gump was in the parking lot just waiting to put on some more miles. The man finished his first marathon Sunday and he’s already looking for some EC?! Crazy. We got in a couple miles in ~15 minutes. I would have taken him back to the flag the long way but Gump talked me out of it. [Read More]

PHAT Tuesday

22 brave men and 2 brave dogs assembled in beautiful downtown Cary on the most glorious evening of the year. Warm-Up Mosey around the parking lot in front of Page Walker, past the pocket park, to the parking lot next to the tracks and circle up for various warm-up exercises. I think one of them was burpees. The Thang Mosey safely across the street to the little hill behind the Chamber of Commerce for 7&7. [Read More]

Three's a Crowd

Three pax made it out to downtown Cary for another evening beatdown at Rush Hour, and after a little time of fellowship we were ready to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. One of the regulars from the Bond Brother’s run club was passing by at the same time, and he stopped and did the Pledge along with us! So that was really cool! When we finished we ran around to back side of the town hall for warm ups. [Read More]
