DTP Changing of the Guard

AO: Disturbing the Peace Q: YHC Even with the haze of pollen in the air, it was perfect weather in the gloom so the numbers remained high at the best AO in all of Carpex. YHC studied and recited the F3 Mission for hours prior to the post so it rolled off the tongue effortlessly to kickoff the workout, next we did the pledge of allegiance and off we went. [Read More]

I'm sorry

Every now and again, you say something that is mean or hurtful or just plain not nice. Today was one of those days. Ten guys got together this morning at Hunter Street Park expecting 45 minutes of what F3 does best: joyful camaraderie. Instead, an ill-tempered roast busted out. And YHC is squarely to blame. After a mosey the long way around to the lady’s parking lot, we warmed up with some SSHs, Burt Jacks, Merkins, Plank Jacks, Supermen and some other stuff. [Read More]

Moving on to Plan E

Have I told you how sick I am of cold, rainy weather? Luckily today we were expecting highs to get into the 60s. With sunshine. WITH SUNSHINE!!! However this morning, it was still 30s and the ground was wet from rain we’ve had in the past 1,231 hours. Six for EC run of about 3 miles. Return to the flag, and I initially thought I was in the wrong place. Maybe I should post at DTP a little more often - apparently it’s now the place to be in Downtown Apex on Tuesdays at 0530. Peace Disturbed

Its been a long time since I wrote a back blast. I think I have skipped writing one for the last 5-6 times I’ve Q’d. With trying to keep track of Pax attending workouts I better write this out to keep us all safe. So I’m going to keep this simple too. Standard warmup/stretching in Apex PD parking lot. Mosey to bottom of hill and partner up. Time for some Catch me if you can. [Read More]

Heaven is a Halfpipe

This backblast is a little late coming as it is from my birthday Q on 8/20, but as you get older you tend to forget things. Any way, as most are aware it’s BRR season and another HIM suggested those of us running the BRR should be sure to take all the open Q slots for BRR inspired workouts. Well, one of my typical training routes goes right through HFT and from the light at Olive Chapel and Kelly Road to Kelly at Beaver Creek Commons appeared to be the perfect “halfpipe” if you will. Tank Tops are Easy

Like all Thursdays, I woke up and grabbed my Pineapple tank top (it’s a real crowd pleaser) and headed out the door. As you know, Carpex Thursdays are of the tank top variety and in these peak heat and humid North Carolina mornings, they’re the next best thing to going full Headroom and rocking nips out. I rolled up to the flag early and was pumped to see HIM after HIM stroll in rocking their tank tops too. [Read More]

Hills not Circles

Saw the Q-sheet was open and wanted to do a BRR-style Q with the added bonus of trolling the FMJ PAX on Slack for predictably “running in circles” at the track. Much respect to those guys I wouldn’t be able to keep up. The POGL has some awesome hills and a little bit of elevation checking on topographical maps pointed to my two favorites. Hinton St and W Moore St (aka Cemetery Hill). [Read More]

Happy July 6, comrades!

YHC rolled up to Hell’s Bells on Monday, a little surprised to see a full parking lot and a half-dozen PAX already at it. It turns out I had not missed the start time, it was just the ECP crowd getting things done. Excellent. This past few months while I’ve been unable to run and having no access to the gym to do some weight training, I’ve taken up kettlebells as a standard workout. [Read More]

Beat, but worth it.

Not sure if anyone reads the backblast any longer, but it is important to document what went down this morning at Dazed and Confused at Apex Community Park. YHC and Crimson arrived around 5:24 and found a light crowd. Hanson, Mohawk, and Revere came in from a jog around the lake and we found Bubba and then Kiwk Stop. With about 90 seconds to spare, Two Factor arrives from him OYO EC run. [Read More]
