BRR Tribute

We held a planning meeting with Erkins, SSH and Squats. Never did come up with a suitable team name but split into 2 vans. Van1 ran the full soccer field track while Van2 did merkins, squats and LBCs. Flip flop for a total of 3 laps per van. StepUps, dips, pull ups, Derkins and jump squats were featured. Lastly we ran the staircase three times to help Ma Bell remember 9/11. [Read More]

Dora Got Nothing on Jeff 1-2-3-4

Preamble Per usual, planning the Q started sometime after dinner and finalized before going to bed. YHC drifted off to a sound sleep with a smile my face. The smile continued as I woke up (I mean, at my age every day above ground is a blessed one), through my morning deuce/wordle/stretching routine, and on the drive to Bond Park. 40 seconds prior to launch, YHC flawlessly recited and enunciated the F3 Mission. 3 rounds with Jack Webb is the Valentine's Day Challenge

11 HIMs or maybe it’s HIDAs came together in sub-freezing temps (24 degrees F). The beauty of the cold brisk morning was no ice. 0530 hrs struck and it was time to get these men warmed up after our pledge to Old Glory. Runners do two laps around the pickle and walkers do one meeting at the top of the parking lot circle for some warm-up. Once those muscles are warm, QIC explained the thangs. [Read More]

School's out for winter

If you’ve lived in this area for more than 5 years, you know the story. If it snows on Day 1… expect Day 5 to still be a snow day. And so it was in Wake County this weekend. It snowed (barely) Thursday night so Friday was naturally a snow day. Then came a solid dumping Friday night followed by two days of beautiful, snowy and generally above freezing temps on Saturday and Sunday. [Read More]

3 (Years) Is The Magic Number

Realizing that 2021 was coming to an end pretty quickly and knowing that my anniversary of joining F3 was in January, I grabbed the Q slot back in late Oct to celebrate it as best I can. Little did I know how important this Q would be… A quick disclaimer was made and with no fngs in attendnace, we started with the pledge. Then we mozied towards the parking lot up the road. Gloomy Wolverine Means A Great Day

Several weeks ago Loom sent a DM asking if I’d like to return to my old stomping grounds at gloomy Wolverine and I happily obliged. Even better, our ShieldLock meets weekly at Wolverine so I know the landscape well. Hell, I even planned to recycle the Q workout from the Shieldlock last week. Pax started slowly rolling in: a few Travelling Circus acrobats (Clementine, PomPom, Overflow), the dynamic duo of Franklin/Badlands, the glorious return of Nature Boy (donning a full red sweatsuit with the bottoms tucked into his socks), Big Red wondering why there was another big red present, and several other HIMs for this great morning. Are we still doing this?

I know we have a newfangled method of tracking workouts with attendance and what happened on slack with PaxMate, but part of me still enjoys typing it out for posterity. Anyway, as Triple Lindy and I were discussing running plans for this morning, I remembered I had a late softball game Tuesday night. It’s cool we can just run Friday. And then our boy Happy Gilmore dropped the SNS pre-blast and I was reminded I did indeed have the Q. [Read More]

It's All in the Numbers

Today I celebrate 56 trips around the sun. I was thinking about how some numbers have corresponded to important times in my life. For example, I was born in ‘65 and today I am 56; my high school jersey number was 39, and I moved to Raleigh in ‘93; I graduated from college in ‘89 and my daughters were born in ‘98; I was married in ‘96 and …. well, all the numbers don’t work. This was a tough day for sure. I’ll keep it limited an amplify the few things that are truly relevant: I’m thankful for Burt and his perpetual support of the PAX. Seeing that flag and the beer made my day. I’m thankful for Riptide. He was up early to let me know and not leave me hanging there. Great to see Foie Gras back after a devastating week. Here for you, man. [Read More]
