F3 Carpex 6th Annual CSAUP, The Odyssey

93 PAX and 2.0’s descended on Downtown Cary for the 6th annual CARPEX Odyssey. Special thanks to Bogo and Badlands for doing the heavy lifting on the Q for this event, and to PetSounds for crushing the SAG Q and post-race 2nd F. Also thanks to all of the SAG support volunteers, Site Q’s, shirt designers, and inspirational musical selections. On to the workout…Rooney kicked us off with an opening prayer and then handed it off to Badlands for the warmup at the home of BO. [Read More]

Flying Cirqus

My first post at Flying Circus featured a Pom Pom Q* involved flipping coins, ball toss, card decks, disc throws, and ring of fire burpees. So when asked to Q, YHC wanted to do something inspired by games. While crawling the interwebs for ideas, I came upon a video of a PT tailoring a stretching routine for Cirque du Soleil performers, and an idea was formed. 7 showed up for a fast, sweaty 5k EC †. Legends of Whoville

AO: Whoville Workout Date: 09/01/21 I’ve been so focused on the August Olympics-themed challenge and Qing the swim workouts in Raleigh that it’s been a hot minute since I attended a good old fashioned boot camp. About five minutes into the workout, it showed. Warm Up: State the mission, check for FNGs(0), and give the disclaimer. Warm Up exercises Main Event: 1) (Number of) The Beast 2) Indian Run around the walking track (Local Legend! [Read More]

No Run is Limited Run

YHC decided to embrace the limited run mantra completely with a zero-run workout. Movement between Thangs was done at a walking pace and only long enough to slightly drop HR. Warm up was a fairly standard one: Good Morning, Side Straddle Hop, Down Dog, Sir Fazio, Windmill, Hillbilly, Calf Stretch Thang 1: PAX all circle up, and an “active” and “active recovery” exercise are called. Ascending ladder of 1-2-3-4 reps of the active exercise, one PAX at a time, moving around the circle. [Read More]

Herding Wildcats

AO: Field of Dreams Workout Date: 07/13/21 I had some workout ideas in my head when I pulled into Field of Dreams, but those plans were mostly dashed when I discovered the baseball fields and the walkways between them were locked off. I did a quick mosey to get some new ideas, entertaining some mumble chatter from Banjo as he warmed up on the playground. I really wanted to avoid Rack Em Stack Em since I’ve called it quite a bit recently, but it worked out so well on the turf soccer field at Dante’s Peak, and the soccer field at FoD was open. Balls, Balls, Balls, and Towels

The Back Story Now that I have my first Q under my belt and celebrated my birthday taboot, it was time to commemorate three years of me being a part of this great thing we call Carpex. Three years ago, Sosa’s diligence in EH’ing me for months (seriously) finally paid off and I showed up to Thomas Brooks Park for my first post. Red Ryder was the Q that day at Field of Dreams. Stares

YHC was looking forward to some heavy rain this morning, unfortunately it held off. The rain wasn’t there, but Peirogi was, and almost on time. Warm-Up Mosey around to the back of the school and circle up for imperial walkers, daisy pickers, arm circles, copperhead merkins, copperhead squats and burpees. The Thang Mosey over to the building with the stairs and count off 1s and 2s. A few rounds of one group climbing the stairs while the other group alternates hand release merkins and monkey humpers. Double Sevens!

So YHC made the mistake of asking earlier in the week who had the Q for Piranha Park on Saturday. Well, site Q Peeping Tom replied no one and asked if I wanted to take it. I said maybe, so naturally he just went ahead and put my name on the sheet. Fair enough, let’s see what I can do with an hour… Warmup: Pledge of allegiance to the flag and mission statement and off we head out of the park towards the road. [Read More]

Intro to Bruce Lee abs

It is now officially summer. How’s everyone’s beach body? When you think six-pack … are you thinking beer belly or abs? I’ve had this workout flagged for a while but wasn’t quite sure when or how to pull it out. Decided today was as good a day as any. Ma Bell and Franklin get an excused absence. The rest are in store for a beatdown in reverse. Warm-up Pickle laps [Read More]

Garbage Plate

13 pax weren’t about to let a little rain stop us from enjoying this beautiful morning. Warm-Up Mosey to the end of the lot and circle up for daisy pickers, hillbillies, Sir Fazios, copperhead merkins, copperhead squats and control freak good mornings. The Thang Mosey from the south entrance to the north entrance with two merkins at each light pole. Continue our mosey to the big, beautiful soccer field. Using only half the field mosey to each corner for ten squats, with a return to the center for three burpees between corners. [Read More]
