Ryder-versary Volume 2

Is the sequel better than the original? Well I can’t judge that. Dante’s Peak is the 2nd place I ever posted, so it’s a traditional stop on the anniversary tour. True story - YHC was EH’d by CHiPs from South Wake. I posted at Tortoises first time, and didn’t tell him I was going. Just texted afterwards, and told him I was going to go to DP if I survived the first time. [Read More]

Smoking the Smoky Mountain Relay 2022

For the first time, Carpex sent two 9-man teams to the Smoky Mountain Relay. Coincidentally, this was the first year that SMR had a 9-man division, and perhaps less coincidentally, the Carpex teams took 1st and 2nd place in that division. We’re going to cover a lot of ground in this backblast, from the teams, their experiences, the course, to a comparison with the perennial favorite Blue Ridge Relay (BRR), so buckle up, because this is going to be a bumpier ride than the “100% paved” abandoned Nantahala wilderness road of Leg 26! BaROCK OB.O.M.B.S.a

OK, this workout had nothing to do with our former President. But it involved B.O.M.B.S with rocks so there you have it. YHC thinks the title is clever. You will come to love it as well. Anyway, even after YHC got a little anxious and stepped in the site Q’s lane by pre-blasting my Q, 20 HIM showed up, including an FNG who had no idea what he was getting himself into. [Read More]

Your M Will Thank Me Later

Preamble Sometime on Tuesday, as I was contemplating my posts for the rest of the week, a message appeared out of the blue that the HFT QIC slot for Thursday was open. YHC jumped on it and…Boom! Thursday plan solved! Then sometime on Wednesday, Buzz Cut messaged me something to the effect of “I don’t know you; can I count on you actually Qing my site?” Right question, wrong PAX to ask. Leg Day, All Day

A Plan Comes Together

AO: A-Team Workout Date: 06/07/21 After Slippery When Wet on Friday, I verified with site Q Henny Penny that A-Team was, indeed, a standard boot camp. The A-Team was one of my favorite television shows when I was growing up. I really wanted to have some inspired routines for this. The first one came pretty easily, Burpee-American Hammer Elevens for the A-Team’s master mechanic, B. A. Baracus. Solid! What exercises could I come up for Hannibal, Faceman, and Howlin’ Mad Murdock? Second Annie Very Sorry for Schlitz!

Wow. It’s been 2 years (well on Sunday officially). Seemed only natural that YHC jumps on the Q sheet to celebrate. Circle up for: SSH x 15 IC Good Mornings x 5 IC Sir Fazio Arm Circles x 10 IC Seal Claps x 10 IC [Read More]

Smokin

Three awesome studs in tanktops and ten plain old regular dudes in sleeves showed up at Olive Chapel Elementary despite the chilly conditions. Warm-Up No flag so mosey down to the park and circle up for the Pledge and a few other execises, including ten burpees to remind our sleevy brothers what day it is. The Thang Head over to the shelter for five rounds of 10 irkins, 10 dips, 10 step-ups and a lap around the pickle. [Read More]

Double Duty

51 is a lot different than 50 was last year. Just the situation - we are now back to getting after it in groups in the gloom. On April 15, 2020, we’d officially shut down group workouts. But one thing I wanted to keep the same. Do a Murph on my birthday. The day started with a run into Bounty Hunters, which depending on the route I choose is right about 3 miles. [Read More]
