Cherry on Top

YHC has driven past North Cary Park many times on the way to various destinations. However, this is the first post. Luckily Google maps gives some very detailed satellite photos of what is rumored to be the premiere site in Cary on Fridays. There is cluster-Q potential with this one, after YHC sees the collection of HIMs who have decided to post. Nineteen, in all. Warm Up Standard fare of SSHs, Cotton Pickers, Sir Fazio, BURPEES, Plank Jacks, and Merkins (and my down AND my UP). [Read More]

Tabata Tango

To celebrate the 420 holiday, I decided to forget it was 420 and not incorporate it into my Q. Darnit, missed opportunity. Instead, I laid out an ambitious plan to traverse the DZ soccer fields in a modified 4-corners, tabata style. But alas, the Town of Cary department of parks and recreation had other plans when they launched the sprinkler system to aptly moisten the pitch. You can imagine my dismay when I showed up nice and early for setup, fully equipped with cones and headlamp (more on that later). [Read More]

Jump Set Spike Rock

As Friday morning rolled around and my soreness from the SNS Q still sang its sweet chords up and down my quads, glutes and hamstrings, I realized that today may not be a good day for excessive leg work. A few of my fellow SNS PAX quickly agreed - thanks for the nudge Liverpool and Chanticleer. Luckily I was not without any ideas having pre-blasted some volleyball action at the DZ sand court. Field Trip

Field trip day at Carpex’s premier Friday AO in the 27513 zip code. Little chitty-chat among the PAX to start, “Holy shnikies it’s windy. Is that a tail wind, Coney?” A quick disclaimer to FNG Nick and we’re headed out of the park and on the road towards the Veterans’ Memorial, because YHC has a half a Mary coming up and needs some miles before a LONG run manana w/ @mabellcarpex. Fifty-two pick-up

Sixteen HIM gathered in the A-Team gloom this morning to help YHC celebrate a 52nd lap around the sun. It was extra gloomy, but the temps were perfect. As anyone knows who has Q’d A-Team, it pays to have a plan A and a plan B, depending on what time CheddarBo rolls in to unlock the gate. 5:45 and no sign of him, so plan B is in effect. No FNGs, but YHC does a quick facsimile of the disclaimer anyway, and we’re off. [Read More]

Birthday Extravaganza and January 26 History Lesson

YHC’s birthday fell on a Friday this year so of course I was planning to Q the best AO in Carpex, on Friday, in North Cary. To my delight, Saban has the same birthday and the same plans. The Co-Q fix was in. 14 arrived, one was a FNG - 13 on time, Flip flop was late. Come on bro, as a future site-Q, you are going to have to tighten up. [Read More]

Who doesn't love Costco?

Monday. MLK Day. Roughly 20 degrees. Eager PAX huddled outside the park gates, awaiting the Q. 2 FNG’s quietly took in the MC. Disclaimer was presented and we are off. Warm Ups: Headed to the nearest parking lot on the left for warm up laps around the big pickle. 3 laps…Butt Kickers, High Knees, Mosey Roof Raises, Side Shuffles. Circled up for the traditional stretch…. Good mornings, SSH, Mountain Climbers all in perfect cadence: 15X Standard Merkins (OMD): 15X Plank Hold for a few 10 counts… The balmy morning was really hurting the PAX, not to mention it was Monday.
