This was a tough day for sure. I’ll keep it limited an amplify the few things that are truly relevant: I’m thankful for Burt and his perpetual support of the PAX. Seeing that flag and the beer made my day. I’m thankful for Riptide. He was up early to let me know and not leave me hanging there. Great to see Foie Gras back after a devastating week. Here for you, man. [Read More]

7th Callahanniversary

Seven years is a significant amount of time regardless of how many years you’ve racked up to this point in your life. For me, it represents over 20% of my existence on this earth. I spent some time the last few days considering how much I have changed in that span of time. A 27-year-old, working as an inside sales rep at a failing wood mill is were it started. Sam, the salesman. [Read More]

2ndF Red Line Overload in the Danger Zone

AO: Danger Zone (duh) Workout Date: 05/21/21 Danger Zone was the first Carpex AO that YHC ever posted, way back in October 2017. I had started posting with my 2.0 BOOM! (7 years old at the time) since he was usually wide awake at 5AM. We ran into Burt at The Forge and he encouraged us to come check out his Q that week at DZ. In preparation for my Q, I dug up Burt’s old Backblast (see NMS) and had a good laugh. [Read More]

Three Mile Minimum

Workout Date: 05/18/21 Working on my stretch goal, YHC has been making some moves on the Carpex Q sheets. I was somewhat apprehensive about blindly signing up to Q a “high tempo” workout without posting first. I’ve seen more than one AO where this label no longer applies, and others where the label is missing. I did my due diligence, verifying with Peeping Tom that Full Metal Jacket really was high tempo and posting Kryptonite the day before to get a taste of Carpex High Tempo. [Read More]

Dangerzone 4/23/21

38 degrees and clear. 12 men showed up for a little old school fun. And it was an old school kind of crew, what with the likes of Burt, Coney, Riptide, Shut-In, and McCants, but with a splash of slightly newer blood like Hermes, Flip Flop, Lookout, Blowout, Viewmaster, and Happy Gilmore. All in all, a solid group, of which I was the slowest PAX. YHC planned an impeccable Q last week at Shakin’ Not Stirred. [Read More]

2 Live Crew

Two year anniversary. Wonderful group today. YHC went for a long-ish run yesterday, so today was a Parker-style ME shred. Warm-Up (for some reason I always call “have a nice days” instead of “good mornings” - I make this strange mistake every time - will tighten up). Thing 1: Rock Circuit x3 (oblique sit-ups, single-leg deadlifts, mountain climbers) Thing 2: Rock Circuit x3 (goblet squat, jump squat, pushup, shoulder tap) [Read More]

a cardinal workout

A Day Late, but here we are! 10 Phoenicians showed up in the 30° chill to do some work on a Saturday. Here’s what we did: Pledge with the 2 Bruisers, and then follow me! Around the home pickle and out the North Side to Maury O’Dell, grab the path to the Community Center lot, back through to Metro Park Dr and hang a right to convene at Warmup Intersection for 8CGM, SSH, SM/PJ/SM, IW. Picking up the Six...or...S****

Nine (+ 2 Ruckers) PAX made it out to Kryptonite for a Monday morning Q to begin prep for BRR 2021. Oofta screeched into the parking lot at the bell, and at 530 AM, we kicked off on-time with the Pledge, and off we went. Warm up Half-mile jog around the amphitheater to the Symphony Lake Bridge with expected heckling from Burt and Flip (Fleep) Flop. Good Morning Calf stretches First » Nine’s at ABB parking lot/hill Finish trail and head across the street to ABB parking lot. [Read More]

Blood Doping (legally)

Ahh, Thursday nights since this COVID-19 started. Normally a night reserved for playing poker at my friend’s house, but we’ve been doing it differently. Now we all stay home and play against each other on an online platform, plus with use a separate laptop to Zoom in so we can physically see each other and talk trash. Playing in this fashion is fun, and can have both advantages and disadvantages. One advantage is that we can all slug down tons of beers all night since we don’t have to drive. [Read More]

High Tempo Euphoria

18 came to workout, a day after a much needed slap on the old wrist from the Nant’an, so with that a heightened sense to get the Pax working out, but also spread ’em out a touch, YHC designed a high tempo beatdown with that in mind. High tempo warm-ups and lightening quick Good Mornings. Y’all need to chill about these Good Mornings. Hell, we can’t even count and do seal claps properly anymore. [Read More]
