Inclined to sprint

Warm up Twas a chilly morning and YHC knew there would be some tight hams around so elected to pledge then go for a longer warm up jog than the customary pickle and a half: Out of the car park, left on Norwell, left on NW Cary, left into the trees (lights on), immediately left up the steps and then along the little used, slightly dangerous, trail back to the bottom of the car park. Three Years

I’ve been in F3 for almost as long as I’ve been a dad! That percentage of time will just keep growing, mehopes. Here’s a look back at the last three V-days with F3-JP: 2019 2018 2017 (best I could do. Raleigh’s only written 3 BBs this year, as an indication) FNG Check - Mission and Disclaimer - Follow Me! Simple plan today: Find the Black Creek Greenway and head north. We’ll stop along the way for decreasing sets of Merkins and Squats (with one set of LBCs in there while the Nan’tan confirmed that our 6 was actually bruising). [Read More]

Putting the B in Burpee, and Other B Words

I never know exactly how many PAX are boot-camping and how many are Vespering, but there were 20+ gathered at Bond Park expecting some sort of exercise routine. Warm Up A couple laps around the pickle to get the gams loose. Do the Pledge and recite the F3 Mission, circle up for SSHs, Sir Fazio forward and back, Seal claps, Steve Earles, Plank Jacks, and CFMs. The Thang Mosey down to the end of Maury O’Dell, hang a right and go to the nicely lit parking lot adjacent to fields 5/6/7. The Sub

19 HIM gather in the gloom for another Claymore, limited run, beatdown care of Ninjago. How many regions have a 12-year old Q on a regular basis I ponder? Welcome to FNG Thriller (Earhart’s 2.1), who received the disclaimer from his brother. After a quick lap around the upper parking lot pickle, we circle-up for Warm Up Good Mornings Sir Fazio Imperial Walkers Hillbillies Side Straddle Hops 10 Burpees OYO thanks to Honey Do being tardy [Read More]

It looked good on paper

It seemed simple enough. Run around Bond Lake and stop and do exercises every tenth of a mile. I’m just not sure where my calculations went wrong. Was the warm up too long? Was the PAX too slow? Was the rampant Mumble Chatter too mumbley? Perhaps it was the shared fear of tripping over a tree root or coming in contact with poison ivy. Maybe it was having Disco Duck’s recent copperhead snake warning ringing in our ears, trying to figure out who was going to carry Liverpool out of the woods if he gets bit again or was Grease Monkey’s silent protesting slowly spreading through the PAX. Burtflop

Well, Ultimate Frisbee season started up, so posting to Carpex workouts has been limited by soreness and/or injuries. I haven’t posted in about 3 weeks, so I was pumped to take the Q at DangerZone this morning. Of course I was expecting to be greeted to a heroes welcome, or strut into the AO while a boombox is blasting the Welcome Back Kotter’s theme song. Nope, none of those happened. Instead the night before, Sabre is skeaning me for not having some sort of a Pre-Blast, Peeerogi is questioning my mobility to Q, and CK is DM’ing me constantly…with his only interest of bequeathing me with his old bicycle inner-tubes with advice to utilize said inner-tubes during the Q for resistance running “in case you can’t think of any exercises to do”. In a Spring Daze

What is the meaning of all of this traffic coming into Bond Park at 0615? I would love to say the 50 cars YHC observed roll in in about about a 10 minute span where pax upon pax coming to receive the highly anticipated beat-down that was near to launch hosted by yours truly. But alas they were not. While the pax turnout of 25 was nothing to sneeze at, this was not going to be a typical quiet morning with the 310 acres of Bond Park to ourselves. [Read More]

Making Good Friday Even Better: Stations of the Cross

QIC: Crimson, Wonderbread, Flacco 42 HIM gathered in the gloom to commemorate the the final days of the greatest HIM of all time. Stations of the Cross is a Catholic tradition that marks each of 14 notable events the Christ endured on his final day on this Earth. From his condemnation by Pilate and the Sanhedrin to his final (well…not-so-final) resting place in the tomb. Below is the full text that was read and the accompanying exercises for the workout.
