this is the year

HAPPY OPENING DAY! We made it through another baseball offseason. And through another Q1. And through another gloomy gloomy winter. We got some sprinkles this morning, and I don’t think we cracked 50deg, but it was glorious nonetheless. Here’s what we did… Gather up, and oh snap, Bayonne’s here!! Awesome to see you back, man. 9 others rolled up including 2 via EC. Burt swaps his Dodgers jersey for a tank top, and I don my Matt Harvey jersey for potentially the last time. [Read More]

Partner up, nevermind

I am still not sure why I signed up for the Q this morning. It sure would have been nice to sleep in. I’m sure several PAX wished I would have slept in (Deuce, you can say it, I won’t be offended). But I didn’t and we all left thankful for the opportunity to do some work and enjoy some fellowship together. Here is what went down: 6:30 - time to get rolling. [Read More]

Horseshoes

Overnight storms left the Ritter Park area wet and slippery, let’s see if we can make it through the beatdown with no injuries. Warm-Up Mosey across Kildaire Farm Road to the Retail Section and circle up for Good Mornings, imperial walkers, Sir Fazios, copperhead squats, copperhead merkins and three slippery mountain climbers. The Thang Mosey down to the greenway, through the tunnel and up to the top of the ramp. The lucky number of nails in a horseshoe is seven, so we’ll make seven horseshoes. [Read More]

Are We Gonna Do This The Whole Time?

Slippery When Wet - home of the EC run as well as where YHC completed week 1 of the 2019 IronPax Challenge. In celebration of how much that sucked the first time, we’re gonna do it again today. Several PAX did some kind of EC run, 2 PAX for EC pull-ups. At 0545, there were 15 gathered round the flag. First exercise, Pledge of Allegiance. Warm Up 2 laps around the pickle with some high knees and karaoke. [Read More]

A Flock of Seagulls and a Bigger Pickle

When Yoga Mat invokes Flock of Seagulls and Monty Python in the pre-blast everyone knows that the actual workout will never live up. But we’re all here so let’s give it a shot. We have an FNG so a full disclaimer and mission statement are delivered. The Pledge and we’re off. Warmup: Mosey a while and end up in a well lit parking lot within sight of our friends at Crossfit: [Read More]

The Morning After

If YHC has one skill when it comes to Qing. One that is greater than all the rest. It has got to be the ability to sign up to Q the morning after late night events. Thursday night football…a major holiday…Christmas Party…you name it, I’m probably Qing it. So of course YHC has the Q on Friday at Slippery When Wet when just hours ago he was stuffing his face with pasta, slingin a few back, and toasting to the new year. [Read More]

Happy Birthday Whippersnapper

It was an honor to be at the original location of Coffee with Oofta, Joe with Joe this morning. I arrived to find the pax milling about in the gloom, including Bayonne’s father, Whippersnapper who I later learned was celebrating his 77th birthday in the gloom. Lots of time help for this Q who prefers to lead without wearing a watch. Oh well, 545 ish - and we were off for a quick lap and a circle for - GM, Hill billies, Mountain climbers, SSH, Sir Fazios and then off again to the pavilion. [Read More]
