Another Yank safely contained

Last Saturday, YHC moved from Chatham county closer to the center of the Carpex universe, going from 0 AOs* within an EC-able 3-mile radius to approximately half of all the AOs in Carpex (or as HK calls it, the Nation). What better way to move in, meet new Pax, and ensure that YHC wakes up and works out each day instead of sleeping in on a week off than to Q every day at a Cary AO? [Read More]

MacGregor Downs and Ups

I was kicking it with HoppinJohn during our kids’ baseball game last weekend, and I noticed his site needed a Q this week, so I jumped on it, with the warning that it would be BRR-tilted. Stacked EC line-up: Mayflower, Bagels, Chops, Voltron. Lots of folks milling around ahead of the start time. I asked Chops to be clear in the pre-blast that we were running today, and he was, so I assumed everyone was onboard for some envelope-pushing. [Read More]

Chipper knows his Western PA lingo!

Fabulous morning with fantastic dudes at SWW! Including FNG Todd, brought out by Full House – nice! He showed up in full sweat pants & sweat shirt – those did not last long! More on him later…. here’s what went down…. Good crowd gathered & EC group rolled in off the greenway – 22 was the count. Started with the pledge & a mosey around the big loop to warm up in the shelter – Good morning, windmills, fazios +, merkins, mtn climbers, etc. [Read More]

Rush Hour 2 Electric Boogaloo

This is a backblast that YHC is writing a month or so late as I got caught up in Snowbird’s March Madness Challenge in Raleigh and Backblasts got put on the Back-burner. Workout Date: 03/30/21 Raleigh March Madness update… Boitano Qed Broga while I was Qing Monday Murph, so a wash on points there. I’ve got this in the bag except for the FNG wildcard. After racking my brain Sunday night and Monday morning, I was able to get a potential FNG to say he would come out. [Read More]

Double Duty

51 is a lot different than 50 was last year. Just the situation - we are now back to getting after it in groups in the gloom. On April 15, 2020, we’d officially shut down group workouts. But one thing I wanted to keep the same. Do a Murph on my birthday. The day started with a run into Bounty Hunters, which depending on the route I choose is right about 3 miles. [Read More]

Fourth Year Celebration Part 1

This past Tuesday (4/6/21) marked the 4th year that YHC’s first post of F3 Carpex, and what an awesome ride its been! Time sure is a weird thing, as I like to say. It feels so long ago and yet it doesn’t feel like hardly any time at all, but I’ve certainly enjoyed getting to know and workout with all you guys and all the adventures ta boot! To celebrate YHC had planned out a special two part Q on this day. [Read More]

BREATHE!

Over on the Dark Side of Cary, 14 HIM were volun-told by YHC what to do at Kryptonite. We gathered at the flag and excitedly waited for the EC runners to arrive. Then we listened to Hermes talk about his 5k PR and how he was going to take it slow on the main event. Being the ever-benevolent Q, I agreed to keep it to a reasonable pace (or I just leveraged the moment to subtly admit how slow I am…) We celebrated leadership in our community by delegating a pearls-on-a-string workout to the PAX. Virtue of the bored

Punctuality is a key part of our culture here within F3 CARPEx. Case in point, we start on time, we end on time and we even have an official Region timekeeper: Saban. I am not aware of any other Regions that take punctuality so seriously. Even when Saban is not around, if a workout goes long, inevitably someone will mention Saban being unhappy. Suffice it to say, “Don’t be late” might as well be our subheader. [Read More]

Last day of 2020...

So today is December 31st, so naturally the last day of the year 2020. What a year it’s been, to say the least. I figured what better way to Q the first workout of the last day of 2020 than to use it as a theme. I decided to do 20 reps of 20 exercises in a 4 corners situation. Here’s what we did: Warmup: YHC and 7 Pax at the flag (almost) at 0515 on an extra gloomy day. [Read More]

Lost one before the turn

Pre-blast: IR friendly. QIC is nursing some foot stuff. Nothing major but trying to get to the point where I don’t feel tightness first thing in the morning. With that in mind, I scan the area - through Google Maps of course - and see there may be a nice trail leading from one of the parking lots out to Lochmere Lake. Looks like a nice short cut to cool views and some rocks. [Read More]
