RIP Jimmy. You've got wings that we can't see

Preamble It was 1985 when YHC saw my first Jimmy Buffett concert. Before that, I had been a casual fan. But on that night at Carowinds, I fell in love with the music, the lyrics, the energy, the good times vibe, the lifestyle, the escape his music offered, and the man. I would go on to see him 15 or so (I lost count) more times in places like Carowinds (again), Blossom Music Center near Cleveland, Buckeye Lake near Columbus, PNC Arena - the only time I’ve seen him indoors - and of course, Walnut Creek Amphitheater. F3 Carpex 6th Annual CSAUP, The Odyssey

93 PAX and 2.0’s descended on Downtown Cary for the 6th annual CARPEX Odyssey. Special thanks to Bogo and Badlands for doing the heavy lifting on the Q for this event, and to PetSounds for crushing the SAG Q and post-race 2nd F. Also thanks to all of the SAG support volunteers, Site Q’s, shirt designers, and inspirational musical selections. On to the workout…Rooney kicked us off with an opening prayer and then handed it off to Badlands for the warmup at the home of BO. [Read More]

Flying Cirqus

My first post at Flying Circus featured a Pom Pom Q* involved flipping coins, ball toss, card decks, disc throws, and ring of fire burpees. So when asked to Q, YHC wanted to do something inspired by games. While crawling the interwebs for ideas, I came upon a video of a PT tailoring a stretching routine for Cirque du Soleil performers, and an idea was formed. 7 showed up for a fast, sweaty 5k EC †. Hard like Beskar

Well. It’s been a week. After a rare day off work last Friday, and having such a blast with a spelling bee at Danger Zone, I remembered how fun it is to Q. You never realize how bad you are at being a Q until you don’t do it for a long time, then try to jump back in the ring. DZ was a little different; I had a plan, and willing pax, and it was an out-and-back…what could go wrong? [Read More]

No Fooling Around

23 Fools helped YHC celebrate 43 years. Following the welcome, disclaimer, and pledge we warmed up the hammies with some high kicks, butt kickers, and imperial walkers. We proceeded to Mosey with Bruisers continuing the butt kickers and high knees and runners taking a stroll around the new coffeteria location in Amberly. THANG 1: We warmed up with a series of exercises and stretches to get us ready for 7s on the hill with Copperhead Merkins at the top and monkey humpers at the bottom. [Read More]

Decades Day 3: FOD 60's

YHC’s anniversary tour continues at Field of Dreams. Theme today is ‘60’s. Fantastic playlist in queue plus this is usually a well-attended AO, so especially excited for this one and arrived 30 min early to reacquaint myself to the site. Overflow had his earbuds in expecting a solo EC - he ended up joining YHC along with Sunshine and PBX for a couple miles - great mumblechatter as to be expected with 75% Steves. [Read More]

Gloomy Wolverine Means A Great Day

Several weeks ago Loom sent a DM asking if I’d like to return to my old stomping grounds at gloomy Wolverine and I happily obliged. Even better, our ShieldLock meets weekly at Wolverine so I know the landscape well. Hell, I even planned to recycle the Q workout from the Shieldlock last week. Pax started slowly rolling in: a few Travelling Circus acrobats (Clementine, PomPom, Overflow), the dynamic duo of Franklin/Badlands, the glorious return of Nature Boy (donning a full red sweatsuit with the bottoms tucked into his socks), Big Red wondering why there was another big red present, and several other HIMs for this great morning. Parking Deck Extravangaza

It was Wednesday. I logged into Slack after an earth-shattering day at work to see if my distinguished co-Site Q picked me up on the pre-blast or if I would still have the privilege to whip up something witty… when the Pet Sounds note appeared on my feed. We’re gonna have to work for this one, aren’t we. RDG launched early on a solo Cleaver, a couple of SNS GBBs EC’d their various ECs, and 6 other PAX greeting YHC rolling up with some coffees, waters, and a plan. [Read More]

Humid Hills

Little thick out there this morning. Little thick. Warm-Up Mosey around the lot next to the astroturf field and circle up for imperial walkers, daisy pickers, arm circles and burpees. The Thang Run up the hill to the next parking lot and back, stopping on the way down at each light pole for various exercises (merkins, LBCs, monkey humpers). Mosey to the shelter and partner up. P1 takes a lap around the lot, P2 does irkins, derkins and dips until relieved. [Read More]
