Limited Run, Not Limited Suck

13 Tortoises gathered at Cornerstone Fellowship Church on a beautiful Wednesday morning ready to work. Rolling in hot from the street at 5:25am was C25K Shieldlock members Bolton, Roasters, and Left Cheek who just killed a 3 mile EC run. Billy walks up and I haven’t seen him for years so it was great seeing that kneebrace & his beautiful face (despite his distaste for all day work Zoom meetings). [Read More]

Making Tortoises Great Again

Approximately 4 years ago, after months of EH’ing by CHiPs from South Wake, YHC made his F3 debut at the premier Wednesday limited run AO in all of Carpex. I say approximately because there is no backblast for the workout. But it was the 2nd Wednesday in August, if my feeble 51 year old memory is doing me any favors today. It was rough. Yogi had the Q and I’m pretty sure I coded at least twice during the workout. [Read More]

Date: 12/17/2020 PAX: Ausfahrt, Disco Duck, Hello Kitty, Intimidator, Pet Sounds, Ramsay, Reentry, Roasters, WWW I arrived at the AO early to get prepped. Coffee started and equipment out. As it gets closer to time, I noticed two runners making their way to the AO (Hello Kitty and Ramsay). They wanted their mileage. Hello Kitty mentions that Pet Sounds was supposed to run in as well. 0530 on the clock and no Pet Sounds. [Read More]

No excuses

This week has been crazy. I am a day late in writing my backblast. Monday I found out one of my work friends died over the weekend. My volunteer work has picked up. Deadlines in my day job. And yet Crimson brought up the fact that Tortoises didn’t have a Q and I felt compelled to put my name on this Q sheet. I did not really plan the workout. I did not have the time to do it. The Five Man Weave

After putting my name on the Q sheet last week I went back and forth trying to come up with a way to get the PAX moving between stations, without running, and while maintaining social distance. I settled on a three man weave, with a 2-man option if needed. As luck would have it Callahan ran a 3-man-weave Tuesday at FWD and it worked fairly well, so I thought I was good to go. [Read More]

Iron 2 tin ... Need of a reboot

So, I have to leave at 0530 to get to Alamance from Cary. After no making it to the gloom those weeks other than a Saturday, I needed a reboot to get back into my normal rhythm. I got back to my normal schedule on Wednesday so I went to Tortoises to get a beatdown by way of Crimson. [Read More]

Curing a Case of the Mondays

YHC was reminiscing a bit with some of the PAX who were around for the launch of the AO known as Hell’s Bells. Back in the day when this site was just barely beyond a twinkle in the eyes of Earhart & Monkey Nut, there were times when the site Qs posted only to do a 2 man workout. Back in the glory days when the gates at Apex Nature Park always opened well before 0530. [Read More]
